05-22-2020 Maple resaw.  One of the guys at work said hey do you want some limbs off of my Maple tree.  Sure!   So he cut me three 4 foot long logs about 12 to 13" in diameter.  I could have resawn these logs on the Bandsaw Mill with out Ripping them down the middle with the chainsaw but it's a trade off.  Maybe one more board per log or a whole lot lighter work getting the logs rotated cutting the cants off of them.  The Maple yielded some 1x10"x47" boards.  So far I have resawn Cedar, Walnut, Oak and Maple about a pallet of each about 3' tall by 4' long.  The Red Oak has been the most challenge but it had been cut and laying on the ground 1.5 years before I tried to resaw it.   They say walnut is fine to cut it later but most trees one should resaw it while it's freshly cut.  I dipped the ends in parfin wax today and will sticker it in the shed and in about a year will have some nice dry maple to work with.

3 12" round 4' long Maple logs

Trimmed them down to 47' long

Not quite as heavy as Red Oak

These were Limb Logs

Elected to saw them down the middle to make them easier to handle

Steel Chainsaw cuts much better than the softer bladed poulen.

One loaded one on the ground

Lawn mower maintaince about to happen...just kidding.

Nice lawn tractor

My friend mowing

Log is sitting on top of a cedar 3" thick section. Use braces if it's going to fall over.

My son helping me resaw.

Winch driven and weigth pulls it back to start

Fresh cut Maple cuts nice

I need a bigger shop!

Nice maple boards.

Sled bottom is starting to get some .002 ruts in it after 30 logs.

Can barely feel these ruts from the bearings.

Vaccumed each board to keep them from molding.

Had a few slag boards I cut.

Nice Maple lumber will wax the ends in parifn dip and sticker them in the shed for a year.

Slag wood cut and drying out lincolin log drying.

Grizzly did a great job on this. 11.25" red oak not so much.

I got about 14 nice boards out of these logs and some smaller sizes as well.

Test stickered ready for a waxing and relocation.

Raining again. Wet'est May on record.
