I had the joy of planning an exciting trip to the Rivermen Territorial
Rendezvous in Moscow, TN for my outpost and friends. And let me tell you brother
what a story! We added a couple extra days and few – ok a lot of extra miles to
our journey; but it was an outpost trip to remember. We left on Monday and went
to the Casey Jones Railroad Museum and had a buffet supper to die for in
Jackson, TN. Then we slipped on down to Shenandoah, TN to spend the night at a
fellow RR outpost’s church. Two local outposts met us there and we had a great
time of fellowship and games in their gym. Tuesday we visited the General Grant
monument and the Tennessee River Museum there. That afternoon went to the Shiloh
National Battleground for our own private tour for about 3 hours set up by our
one and only Evangel Professor and Nat'l Park officer Larry Toll. Then we headed
on over to Moscow, TN stopping for a nice supper in route, only to be greeted by
a freezing rain falling down on our desired early camp setup. No problem for
most, but most of our guys bailed out on Dustin, Dave and I and spent a warm
cozy night in a local motel – their loss, we enjoyed a fun evening practicing
our primitive archery skills (not that it did any good in the competition) in
the barn and snuggled down into our warm blankets early. Wednesday morning the
sun was shining and the rest of our company returned with a biscuit and hot
chocolate for us. Camp set up was leisurely and fun as we enjoyed the excellent
fall weather. Finally all of our FCF brothers started pouring into the valley
getting ready for a fantastic Rendezvous. Contests were heated, Trading was
rampant, Council Fires were awesome. All I can say in summarization is I can’t
wait for the next Rendezvous – no matter where it is or how long it take me to
get there! ~ Rick “Simon Tanner” Dostal
